A section of the Village of Breckenridge’s 55+-year-old asbestos cement sewer lines are actively deteriorating from hydrogen sulfide (H₂S) gas from Wheeler Township force mains, creating immediate risks to public health, the environment, and infrastructure. This project will slip-line the gravity sewers and coat manholes to stop corrosion, extend the system’s life, and prevent costly emergency repairs. The project would protect residents of both Wheeler Township and the Village of Breckenridge from hazardous sewer gases and potential overflows, preserves aging infrastructure, safeguards local waterways, and ensures reliable wastewater service. By proactively addressing aging, failing pipes, the Village maximizes cost-effectiveness and demonstrates responsible stewardship of taxpayer funds.
