Ensuring a stable and resilient healthcare system in Michigan depends on maintaining a strong pipeline of qualified nurses. This can be achieved through targeted investments in the people who provide care every day. By offering scholarships to nursing students across Michigan, we help reduce financial barriers and encourage more individuals to enter the profession. At the same time, it is critical to support current healthcare professionals—especially those facing challenges related to substance use and mental health—so they can continue to provide safe, compassionate care. Additionally, establishing peer mentor programs for new nurses fosters confidence, professional growth, and long-term retention in the field. When we care for those who care for us, we strengthen not only our healthcare workforce but also the well-being of every Michigan resident.
