- The $15 million state investment will drawn down a $15 million U.S. DOE matching grant for a wastewater biosolids hydrothermal liquefaction (HTL) demonstration project to transform up to 10 tons of carbon waste daily into usable fuel while eliminating PFAS and other harmful contaminants and avoid growing biosolids disposal costs. The project, which will be located at GLWA's Water Resource Recovery Facility (WRRF), will establish Michigan as the national leader in PFAS removal in wastewater and circular economy technologies.
