- Eastern Michigan University (EMU) is Michigan’s second-oldest public university. Founded as a teacher’s college, EMU has transformed over the decades to become an institution of opportunity that prepares Michigan residents to secure the jobs of their dreams in areas such as health care, engineering, business, neuroscience, and countless other fields. EMU consistently ranks #1 among Michigan public universities in the diversity of the undergraduate student body. PROGRAM BACKGROUND EMU’s College Supports Program (CSP) provides dedicated and integrated support to college students with an Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) diagnosis who are enrolled at EMU. Such support includes dedicated coaches/mentors, customized tutoring programs, and cohort housing. EMU was recently ranked #4 in the country in supporting college students with ASD. PROPOSAL EMU seeks funding to expand the CSP to offer specialized job readiness training and job placement tailored to students / graduates with ASD (which could include soft-skills training, internships while enrolled, and assistance seeking full-time employment after graduation).
