$110,000.00
6. What is the purpose and how does the legislatively directed spending item provide a public benefit that is an appropriate use of taxpayer money?
The purpose of the grant is to purchase and install two repeaters for the public safety communications system. Radio repeaters receive signals and retransmit them to cover longer distances, improving communications for first responders. This project would improve public safety communications for portions of Calhoun County, and potentially portions of Barry and Eaton counties, depending upon where the repeaters are placed -- possibly on existing water towers or similar towers in the area. This is an appropriate use of taxpayer money because an essential function of government is to support public safety. The radio tower system is in dire need of improvement, and this is a much-needed step toward improving radio coverage for public safety personnel in the area.

No previous funding received
