6. What is the purpose and how does the legislatively directed spending item provide a public benefit that is an appropriate use of taxpayer money?
Renewal of $1.2 million for behavioral health Peer Recovery Support Services training program. Altarum requests $1.2M in FY26 to partner with organizations that currently lack infrastructure, training, or resources to implement peer recovery support services. The project will work with BH organizations, foster care agencies, hospitals, and drop-in centers to expand Peer Support Specialists in communities, increase access to recovery services and reduce costs for Michigan Medicaid.
