LANSING — Following Pioneer Hi-Bred’s announcement of plans for a new research center in Ithaca, Sen. Roger Kahn, R-Saginaw Township, offered the following comments:
“This is absolutely fantastic news for the city of Ithaca and all of Gratiot County. Pioneer Hi-Bred made a fantastic choice in selecting Ithaca as the home of its new research center. Michigan’s rich agricultural history makes it the perfect place for Pioneer to continue developing products that will meet the needs of farmers.
“I commend Pioneer’s decision to continue investing in Ithaca. Michigan is the perfect place for the company to grow its future. I’m glad the Greater Gratiot Development Corporation and state officials were able to work with the company to ensure it remained where it belongs – right here in Gratiot County.”
Pioneer, a DuPoint business, first established a research presence in Ithaca in 1986. The company is the world’s leading source of customized solutions for farmers, livestock producers, and grain and oilseed processors.
In addition to Pioneer’s corn research centers in Ithaca, the company also has a large seed production facility in Constantine.
