Sen. Garcia issues statement on Michigan State Police budget
Friday, June 12, 2009
LANSING―State Sen. Valde Garcia, R-Marion Township, issued the following statement Thursday, after the Senate adjourned without taking final action on the state police budget:
“It was a mistake to not pass the Michigan State Police budget today, and it was also a mistake to not save our troopers.
“As chairman of the Senate Appropriations State Police and Military Affairs Subcommittee, I provided a budget that had effective solutions. The budget was fiscally responsible. It made hard cuts, did not overspend and, most importantly, continued to protect Michigan residents.
“This was going to be a win-win, and it is unfortunate that the Senate was unable to approve this most important budget.”
