Sen. Jud Gilbert, R-Algonac, welcomed Algonac City Police Chief Rich Torongeau to the state Capitol Tuesday. Torongeau testified before the Senate Judiciary Committee on Senate Bill 519, sponsored by Gilbert. The bill, which allows “Reserve peace officers” to carry and use taser and stun guns while performing official duties, was approved by the committee. (5/20/2008)
