To help streamline government and balance the state budget, Sen. Cameron S. Brown, R-Fawn River Township, and colleagues unveiled a legislative package that will eliminate the Michigan Department of History, Arts and Libraries, and return its programs to the Michigan Department of State. Brown was joined by Sen. Jason Allen (pictured) and Sen. Tom George, R-Texas Township, chair of the Senate Appropriations Subcommittee on HAL. (4/29/2009)

Members of the Adrian College hockey team were honored by the state Senate Tuesday for completion of an inaugural season that exceeded the wildest of expectations. Sen. Cameron S. Sen. Cameron S. Brown, R-Fawn River Township, welcomed Pastor James Bender of First Baptist Church of Sturgis to the state Capitol Tuesday. Bender led members of the Michigan Senate during the invocation and afterward joined Brown on the Senate floor for session. Brown (from left) and Bender were also joined by his father Harold Bender, who happened to be celebrating his 82nd birthday. (2/26/2008)

 

Sen. Cameron S. Brown, R-Fawn River Township, and his Senate Republican colleagues announced the "Green Michigan Initiative" Wednesday. The legislative package will focus on Great Lakes and water protection, expansion of recycling in Michigan, development of green energy alternatives, and reduction of waste in Michigan landfills.  (10/24/2007)

 

Sen. Cameron S. Brown, R-Fawn River Township, announced a legislative package at the Capitol Tuesday requiring state funds be divested from companies engaging in business with terrorist countries. Brown, chair of the Senate Homeland Security and Emerging Technologies Committee, said the panel plans to convene hearings on the bills in the coming weeks. (9/11/2007)

State Sen. Cameron S. Brown, R-Fawn River Township, and colleagues participated in a re-enactment of President Theodore Roosevelt’s speech to the Michigan Legislature 100 years to the date Thursday. Tweed Roosevelt, vice chairman of the Theodore Roosevelt Association, participated in the ceremony and spoke about his great-grandfather.  (5/31/2007)

 

Members of the Michigan Senate commemorated the 100th anniversary of President Theodore Roosevelt’s visit to the Capitol on May 31, 1907. Portraying the president, Keith McGough walks across the Senate floor, flanked by Civil War re-enactors and local Boy Scouts serving as the Color Guard.  (5/31/2007)

 

Keith McGough inspired members of the Michigan Senate Thursday as he portrayed President Theodore Roosevelt. McGough gave the same speech to the Legislature that Roosevelt gave 100 years ago to the day. State Sens. Cameron Brown and Tom George also participated in the ceremony.  (5/31/2007)
