Sen. Nancy Cassis, R-Novi, meets with doctors from Novi’s Providence Park Hospital about reforming Medicaid and her opposition to a new tax on physicians. The doctors were in Lansing to rally against the House proposal to tax physicians to pay for increased state spending. (10/20/2009)

Sen. Nancy Cassis, R-Novi, presented Jay Wortley, far right, a special tribute for his long and distinguished career with the Senate Fiscal Agency. Wortley, who served as senior economist at the agency since February 1991, has accepted a new position as director of the Office of Revenue and Tax Analysis in the Michigan Department of Treasury. Senate Majority Leader Michael D. Bishop, R-Rochester, and Senate Appropriations Committee Chair Ron Jelinek, R-Three Oaks, also signed the tribute and participated in the presentation on the Senate floor.  (9/25/2009)

Sen. Nancy Cassis, R-Novi, right, listens to Dr. Bob Sornson, Ph.D. testify before the Senate Education Committee in support of incorporating Cassis' SAVE the Children legislation into the Department of Education. Sornson is the founder of the Early Learning Foundation and former special education director of Northville Public Schools. The SAVE program is modeled after the Early Learning Success Initiative, which began as a pilot project in the Northville Public Schools.  (9/10/2009)
