State Sen. John Pappageorge, R-Troy, observed Memorial Day at the state Capitol Thursday. A veteran of two tours in Vietnam, Pappageorge solemnly listened to speakers Army National Guard Lt. Col. Greg Durkac and Mike Kilpela, father of a fallen soldier. Pappageorge, a retired Army colonel, took part in the Senate's annual ceremony to honor the servicemen and women that fought with bravery to defend our nation's freedom. (5/21/2009)
