Senator Patrick Colbeck
Patrick Colbeck was born and raised in Michigan. He grew up in Westland and Livonia. He currently resides in Canton, MI with his wife of 16 years, Angie, who also grew up in Livonia. The Senator is a member of Northridge Church in Plymouth, MI and active in lay ministry through Good News! Via de Cristo.
The Senator graduated with honors from Catholic Central High School in Redford, MI. He went on to earn Bachelors and Masters of Science degrees in Aerospace Engineering from the University of Michigan. In addition to these studies, he is also a graduate of the Life Sciences Department at the International Space University in Strasbourg, France which featured instruction by astronaut Buzz Aldrin and many other international dignitaries in the aerospace community. He applied his studies as an engineer for Boeing and was responsible for designing elements of the life support system onboard the International Space Station. In addition to his engineering work, he was also honored to be an instructor for students at Space Camp in Huntsville, AL.
Senator Colbeck has more than 20 years of engineering and management experience spanning a wide variety of industries including automotive, health care, aerospace, defense, manufacturing, semi-conductors, information technology, pharmaceuticals and telecommunications.
Since starting his own management consulting business in 2004, he has been certified by Microsoft as a Small Business Specialist and has authored the book Information Technology Roadmap for Professional Service Firms. Prior to being elected to serve in the Senate, he also served as Treasurer of the Board for the Canton Charter Academy which consistently ranks as one of the top K-8 public education institutions in the State of Michigan.
The Senator was elected directly into the Senate in 2010 without previously holding any other elected office. He is the first Senator to do so since former Senator Dick Posthumous in 1982. He currently serves on the following committees:

- Education Policy
- Appropriations Subcommittee on the Michigan State Police and Department of Military and Veterans Affairs (Chairman)
- Appropriations Subcommittee on Transportation (Vice Chairman)
- Appropriations Subcommittee on Retirement
- Appropriations Subcommittee on General Government
He also serves as co-chair of the bipartisan, bicameral SE Michigan Caucus and launched the 10th Amendment Caucus. In addition to these endeavors, he is honored to have been elected to the Senate Republican Caucus leadership team as the Assistant Caucus Chair.
The Senator is a diligent student of our American history and extremely thankful to be living in a country that defends the unalienable rights to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.
