Sen. Gerald Van Woerkom, R-Norton Shores, joins Gov. Jennifer Granholm as she signs two pieces of his legislation into state law. Public Act 114 will implement a comprehensive plan to increase rules on food preparation and help prevent the spread of food-borne illnesses. Public Act 56 will help protect residents from potential identity theft by requiring those who submit documents to a county register of deeds to remove every number except for the last four digits of the Social Security number.  (10/16/2007)
