DNR CONFIRMS VIRAL HEMORRHAGIC SEPTICEMIA VIRUS IN BASELINE LAKE AND LAKE ST. CLAIR 8/24/2009 : The Department of Natural Resources announced today that it has confirmed the presence of Viral Hemorrhagic Septicemia virus (VHSv) in samples of fish collected this spring in Baseline Lake in Washtenaw County and in Lake St. Clair. Baseline Lake becomes the second inland lake in Michigan in which VHSv is present.  [more]

SENATOR GARCIA HOSTS THE 2009 ANNUAL SENATE MEMORIAL DAY SERVICE

Michigan's fallen military heroes who defended freedom and sacrificed their lives in the War on Terror were honored Thursday during the Michigan Senate's 15th Annual Memorial Day Service. Senator Valde Garcia, a colonel in the Michigan Army National Guard, presided over the ceremony that acknowledged the 15 soldiers and sailors from Michigan who were killed in action over the past 12 months.
