LANSING--Senator John J. Gleason (D-Flushing) announced today that he has launched a Facebook page to increase his access to and better communicate with his constituents. This new interactive tool will feature up-to-date information on the Senators legislation, events and issues of interest, offer an insider perspective of the Capitol and focus on Senator Gleasons priorities for Michigan and Genesee County. I want to continue to use every tool at my disposal to communicate with my constituents, and this is a great new way to keep people up to date on what Im working on, said Sen. Gleason. More importantly, this page will allow me to interact directly with the people of the 27th District and receive feedback on what issues are most important to them. Senator Gleasons Facebook page can be found at http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1155167068 or by searching John Gleason on Facebook. This is Sen. Gleasons latest effort to better reach his constituents. Earlier this month, he announced that he will be holding monthly coffee hours to meet with residents around the district. Sen. Gleasons Facebook page also builds on a broader effort by the Michigan Senate Democratic Caucus to increase their contact with Michigan residents through new technology. The Senate Democrats launched the state's first ever legislative caucus Facebook page-just recently topping 1,000 fans-and is also on Twitter. The Senate Democrats Facebook page can be found at http://www.facebook.com/pages/Lansing-MI/Michigan-Senate-Democrats/57144052517?ref=mf and the Twitter page can be found at http://twitter.com/MISenDems. Senate Democrats have also launched a Facebook cause page for Hire Michigan First, legislation that Sen. Gleason has been a major advocate for that would offer incentives for companies who hire Michigan workers. The Hire Michigan First Cause page can be found at http://apps.facebook.com/causes/235147?m=91e6b129. # # # |
