Legislators Announce Project Creating High-Tech Jobs In Farmington Hills

LANSING- State Senator Gilda Z. Jacobs (D-Huntington Woods) and State Representative Vicky Barnett (D-Farmington Hills) today announced that the Michigan Economic Growth Authority (MEGA) Board has approved a tax credit for RS Technologies Acquisition Corp that will lead to the creation of approximately 288 local jobs.

RS Technologies is a subsidiary of the New York-based high-tech manufacturing company PCB Piezotronics. The tax credit will allow RS Technologies to invest $1.7 million to expand its operations in Farmington Hills. The project will create an estimated 288 total jobs over time, including 40 jobs directly by the company. The tax credit helped the company decide to expand in Michigan rather than in New York.

“This grant means that Michigan, rather than New York, will get new high tech jobs that will help us revive our economy and encourage our talented workers to stay in Michigan,” said Senator Jacobs. “This is great news for Farmington Hills, and shows other companies that Michigan communities have a lot to offer.”

"This is a perfect example of local communities and the state working hand in hand to attract new businesses and grow our economy,” said State Representative Vicky Barnett (D-Farmington Hills). “In this high-tech age where businesses can locate anywhere in the world, the fact that this company has chosen Michigan to set up shop says a lot about the quality of our workers and the rich environment that we have to offer."
