LANSING- Irma Clark-Coleman (D-Detroit) ) has been appointed to the newly formed State Senate Federal Stimulus Oversight subcommittee. Senator Clark-Coleman is one of three Democrats appointed to the eight-member panel along with five Republicans. She is the lone representative from Detroit who is charged with overseeing how federal stimulus dollars will be spent in Michigan. She was recommended by Senate Democratic Leader Michael Prusi (D-Ishpeming) and appointed by Senate Majority Leader Michael Bishop (R-Rochester). "I will carry out the mandate given by President Barack Obama that stimulus funds be spent according to federal rules and in all transparency and expediency," Sen. Clark-Coleman said. "I will be the eyes and ears of the people who so desperately need the tens of thousands of jobs the stimulus investments will create," she continued. As a member of the Senate Appropriations Committee, Senator Clark-Coleman is already familiar with state spending, and is uniquely suited to serve on this oversight committee. Sen.
