Senator Anderson Applauds State’s Support of JB AutoTech’s Expansion in Livonia

LANSING---Earlier today, the Michigan Economic Growth Authority met and approved a High Technology Employment Tax Credit for JB Autotech in Livonia. The credit is valued at $418,570 over seven years. The project is expected to create 56 new jobs in the Livonia area. JB Autotech, LLC plans to create a new business division that would incorporate internal combustion engine development and testing into the JB Autotech umbrella of services. This division will focus on the development of advanced technologies for the reduction of fuel consumption, exhaust emissions and warranty dollars for original equipment manufacturers and engine producing companies. This project will involve moving into a larger facility in Livonia to accommodate the anticipated growth.

JB Autotech will invest approximately $970, 000 and create 29 jobs over the next five years as a result of this project. The average yearly pay for the newly created jobs will be $60,000. The company also offers healthcare benefits and plans to pay a portion of the benefit cost.

“This announcement is the latest example of the potential for growth in the industries of tomorrow right here in Livonia,” said Sen. Anderson. “Our region is home to a tremendous amount of talent in the automotive manufacturing industry, making it a perfect fit for those who wish to develop the technology for the next generation of efficient automobiles.”

“This news, when taken into consideration with last year’s decision to locate a hybrid bus manufacturing site in Livonia, expected to result in 500 jobs, shows an emerging trend of economic growth in new automotive technology.”

The City of Livonia plans to support this project by offering a PA 198 property tax abatement.
